Vancouver Lookout: A Bird’s-Eye View of Vancouver

We had the opportunity to experience the Vancouver Lookout, which offers an unparalleled 360-degree panoramic view of the city’s stunning skyline, coastal mountains, and sparkling waterways. This iconic attraction, located atop the Harbour Centre, is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike, providing an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe. The Vancouver Lookout was built in 1977 as part of the Harbour Centre complex. The Harbour Centre is a three-tower complex that includes office space, a hotel, and the Vancouver Lookout. The Lookout was originally called the Harbour Centre Tower Observation Deck, but it was renamed the Vancouver Lookout in 1991. We visited the Lookout on Monday, May 5th, 2o24 in the afternoon and lucked out with beautiful weather with lots of sunshine as opposed to the day prior, where the rain and fog would’ve drastically changed our view!

A Bird’s Eye View of Vancouver

As we stepped into the glass-enclosed elevator, the stunning views started immediately while we ascended 553 feet to the top.  Once we arrived at the observation deck, we were informed of a audio tour via our smart phones that was free of charge.  But we went right over to the massive windows where the city unfolded before our eyes in all its glory. From the towering skyscrapers to the majestic North Shore mountains, the Vancouver Lookout offers a breathtaking vantage point that captures the essence of this vibrant city. We weren’t the only ones impressed! “The view from the Vancouver Lookout is simply stunning,” exclaimed Sarah T. from Seattle in her TripAdvisor review. “It’s the perfect way to get a bird’s eye view of the city and appreciate its natural beauty.” The observation deck features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing visitors to soak in the panoramic vistas without any obstructions. Interactive displays and informative signage provide insights into the city’s landmarks, history, and cultural significance, enhancing the overall experience.

Sam Bedford from the San Fransico Bay Area stated, “You get a beautiful view of Vancouver for much less than you pay for at the Space Needle in Seattle. Perfect timing, we went just before sunset and the lighting was beautiful and got great pictures before and at sunset. We spotted Gastown from up there and that’s where we went afterwards. It’s a beautifully lit area to take a stroll, grab coffee or dinner, and shop.”

A Feast for the Senses

While we didn’t visit the restaurant during our time at the Lookout, imagine the stunning aerial views of the city having a meal! The on-site revolving restaurant, Top of Vancouver, provides a unique dining experience that combines delectable cuisine with stunning vistas.“The food at the Top of Vancouver was absolutely delicious,” raved John P. from Toronto on Yelp. “The combination of exceptional service, mouthwatering dishes, and the ever-changing views made for an unforgettable dining experience.”Whether you’re seeking a romantic dinner or a casual lunch, the revolving restaurant ensures that every table offers a constantly evolving panorama of the city, making it a truly immersive culinary adventure. For our visit, we spent all of our time exploring the 360 views from the observation deck.

Tickets and Hours of Operation

Because it was a Monday afternoon, we were able to walk into the lobby and purchase tickets with no wait or no line through a tablet at the Lookout desk.  It was a fast and seamless experience and within minutes we were on the elevator up! General admission tickets start at $18.25 for adults and $10.25 for children (ages 5-17), with discounts available for seniors, students, and families.
